Sister Jeanne Nominated for Unsung Hero award!

3/31/2014

Picture
On Friday, March 28, Congresswoman Doris Matsui, Senate President pro Tem Darrell Steinberg, and Assemblymember Roger Dickinson honored local women at the inaugural Women’s Appreciation Awards ceremony in Sacramento.  Executive Director Sister Jeanne Felion was one of the nominees for the Unsung Hero award!  She is pictured here with Board President Michele Mercado.

The awards ceremony marked the end of Women’s HERstory Month. Over 70 nominations were received from local community members for the Leader of Tomorrow, Organization of the Year, and Unsung Hero awards. The event sought to raise awareness of the contributions local women are making to improve our region, California, and our nation. The event was generously sponsored by SMUD, Sierra Health Foundation, Dignity Health, Kaiser Permanente, and PG&E.

The Knights of Columbus Council 953 voted unanimously to support the mission of Stanford Settlement by giving $500 for the wonderful work being done in the Gardenland community.  Today, Treasurer Dale Edwards presented the check to Sister Jeanne.  We are so grateful for their support!

Volunteer at this year's Natomas May Day Run!

3/13/2014

It takes a LOT of dedicated volunteers to make the Natomas May Day Run a success every year.  Maybe you want to help with the course set-up, registration, or distribute refreshments to our runners at the finish line.

If you have been thinking about helping out, click here to access the Volunteer application form, and e-mail it back to Brittany Hawkins, Special Event Coordinator:  brittany@stanfordsettlement.org.
