At the Annual Dinner meeting on June 1, three employees were honored, along with the installation of new officers to the Board of Trustees. It marked the 40 year milestone of Pat Pennisi, Assistant Director, the 25 year benchmark for Julie Rhoten, and the 5 year anniversary of Megumi Storms, Children's Program Group Worker. Pat received her Master’s Degree in Social Work in 1970 from the University of Kansas and her ACSW Certification (Academy of Certified Social Workers) in 1972. She began work at Stanford Settlement in May of 1975, and has the longest record of anyone for employment here. Pat remarked, "I feel blessed to have been able to work at Stanford Settlement, whose mission is very much a part of me. Thank you to the Sisters of Social Service who founded this truly remarkable agency." At the event, Pat was given a bronze plaque naming the Children's Center building in her name, to celebrate her decades of work and commitment to the children and teens of Sacramento. Julie received her Bachelor's Degree in Social Work from CSU, Sacramento in 1990. After several years of work experience she went on to receive her Master’s Degree in Social Work from CSUS in 1996. She also received her ACSW Certification and her Pupil Personnel Services Credential in 2010. As the Group Work Coordinator, she is responsible for the Children's Program and the Teen Center. Meg joined Stanford Settlement as a BASW student intern in 2009, and graduated with her Bachelor's Degree in Social Work from CSU, Sacramento in 2010. As a Group Worker in the Children's Program, she has positively impacted hundreds of lives in her time here. In addition to work with her groups, she serves as the Day Camp Coordinator during the summer. |
